Winter is Coming!

The only time of year where I feel truely fashionable!

I LOVE WINTER!!! I just had to get that out there, living in Sydney, Australia there are only about 4 months of the year where I truly feel like my fashion is on point. It’s always so bloody hot in summer that when I’m thinking of outfits to wear during the hotter months a lot of what I wear is based on “what can I wear without dying from heat exhaustion or what makeup can I wear without it sliding off”? I honestly put a lot of thought into moving to a country with a climate that I feel more at ease with, I just feel I was born in the wrong country because I love winter, and I love the rain and for someone who loves this type of climate, living in a dry and hot country is almost torture.

But, I digress. I will tell you exactly why I love Winter so much.

The Fashion! Oh the fashion, you can wear boots, hats, beanie’s, scarves, gloves, stockings, coates and all other heavy knits and fabrics. There are soo many more fashion options in winter than there is in summer, summer in Australia is just dressing in the lightest possible outfit so you don’t overheat anymore than you need to. Also your makeup doesn’t slide off like it would in summer and your hair doesn’t frizz from the humidity, so it’s a win all ’round.

The food and drinks, there is nothing and I repeat nothing better than on a cold night sitting down in your comfiest robe and slippers with a nice tea or hot chocolate, plus the shear fact you can eat all those homely stews and soups which you would otherwise avoid in summer, there’s something so comforting about homely “comfort food”. In summer my apetite completely dies and when I do eat it’s something light so I dont feel sluggish, and forget about drinking a tea in the middle of summer, it’s just gross.

Snuggling up on the couch with said hot choclate, a couple of comfy blankets which I kind of turn myself into a blanket burrito and settle in for a movie marathon or netflix marathon. There’s this coziness about Winter especially when the weather turns grey when snuggling on the couch with my puppies and watching a movie marathon or netflix marathon is just the best feeling in the world.

Everyone is indoors almost in hybernation mode, in Australia as soon as it dips below 19 degrees everyone freaks out and stays indoors, so the city at nights becomes less busy, spots that are normally hard to get into aren’t anymore, you can get reservations for places which are normally booked out for months and you also dont have to freak out about finding parking, it’s almost as if Sydney become ghost town, with only the true lovers of winter (the brave) can be seen out. For someone who hates “busy”places where everyone is bumping into eachother or hates to sit at restaurants where the background chatter is so loud you can’t hear anyone on your table without raising your voice.

Sleeping!! I probably have the most unsexy array of winter pajamas and bed socks but you know what? they’re bloody warm and cosy so that’s all that matters, but I love the fact in winter I can fall asleep, tucked in under all my douvets and blankets and wakeup still just as cosy as when I fell asleep. In summer even with the air-conditioning pumping, I manage to wake up in a pool of sweat and feeling extremely gross and clammy and even trying to fall asleep when its so hot and humid is almost impossible in the first place.

Winter is the season where I feel in my element both at home relaxing and going out with friends, in fact I am currently writing this to you with a hot French earl grey tea on the sofa with my beloved dogs.
